Meet the Photographer

I'm Katie.

If you've found yourself on the Glow & Tell website wondering who is actually behind the camera, hi. 👋

I'm a photographer, a woman, a mum, a business owner, and someone who has spent a pretty significant portion of her life learning how to exist comfortably in a body that doesn't always fit society's idea of what a woman's body should look like.

And that's a huge part of why Glow & Tell exists.

I've Been the Plus-Size Woman in the Room

I've lived in a bigger body.

I've known what it's like to get dressed and wonder what will hide the parts of myself I don't like.

I've known what it's like to see photographs of myself and immediately look for the things I wish were different.

I've also spent years being told, directly and indirectly, that my body would be more worthy of celebration if it were smaller.

And here's the thing.

I still want to change my body.

Those two things can exist together.

I can want to lose weight and still love myself.

I can work towards changing my body without believing my current body is a problem.

I can have goals for my health without putting my life, my confidence or my photographs on hold until I reach them.

I've had to learn that my body doesn't have to be my favourite thing about myself for me to treat it with kindness.

And that lesson has completely changed the way I see boudoir photography.

I Did My Own Boudoir Shoot Before I Was “Done”

One of the most important things I can tell you is that I didn't wait until I had the body I wanted before I got in front of the camera.

I did my own boudoir session while I was still on my body journey.

I hadn't reached my goal.

I wasn't at the weight I wanted to be.

There were still things about my body I wanted to change.

And I did it anyway.

Because I realised that if I kept waiting until I was finally happy with my body, I could spend years waiting.

So I got in front of the camera as I was.

And I saw myself differently.

Not because the camera magically changed my body.

Because I finally stopped looking at myself exclusively through the lens of everything I thought was wrong.

That experience became a huge part of the reason I wanted to create Glow & Tell.

Boudoir Shouldn't Be About Becoming Someone Else

You don't need to arrive at my studio as the most confident version of yourself.

You don't need to be thin.

You don't need to be toned.

You don't need to have perfect skin.

You don't need to have lost the baby weight.

You don't need to know how to pose.

And you certainly don't need to look like the women you've seen in traditional boudoir advertising.

You get to look like you.

Because women come in an enormous range of bodies, ages, shapes, colours, identities and stories.

I want my photographs to reflect that.

This Isn't About What a Woman “Should” Look Like

We've been given an incredibly narrow picture of what is supposed to be beautiful.

Thin.

Young.

Smooth.

Perfectly proportioned.

Effortlessly sexy.

Always polished.

And somehow, we're expected to spend our lives trying to squeeze ourselves into that picture.

I'm not interested in doing that.

I want to help create photographs where women can look at themselves and think:

“There I am.”

Not:

“Maybe one day I'll look like that.”

Not:

“I wish my body looked like hers.”

Not:

“I need to lose weight before I can do this.”

Just:

“That's me.”

If enough women see themselves represented differently, maybe the picture changes.

I Want Glow & Tell to Feel Safe

When you step into my studio, I want you to feel like you can breathe.

You don't have to perform.

You don't have to impress me.

You don't have to be “sexy” on command.

You don't have to do a pose that makes you uncomfortable because you think you should.

Your boundaries matter.

Your comfort matters.

Your consent matters.

And you are always allowed to say no.

I'll guide you through the posing, but you remain in control of your experience.

Whether you're nervous, excited, awkward, confident or all four at once, there's room for you here.

And Your Photos Belong to You

Boudoir doesn't have to be for a partner.

It doesn't have to be for social media.

It doesn't have to be shared anywhere.

You can book a session simply because you want photographs of yourself.

You can keep them private.

You can gift them.

You can share them.

You can print them.

You can look at them ten years from now and remember exactly who you were at this point in your life.

And if you do want your images shared by Glow & Tell, that is always a choice you make.

Your body isn't content unless you choose for it to be.

So, Why Glow & Tell?

Because I know what it's like to wait.

Wait until you're thinner.

Wait until you're fitter.

Wait until your skin is better.

Wait until your confidence comes back.

Wait until you feel worthy of being photographed.

I'm done waiting.

And I don't want you to have to either.

Glow & Tell is my little corner of the world where women can come as they are, be photographed with intention, and experience what it feels like to see themselves without immediately searching for something to fix.

I can't promise that you'll suddenly love every part of your body.

I don't.

But I can promise that I'll photograph you with care, intention and respect.

And maybe you'll leave with more than beautiful photographs.

Maybe you'll leave having seen yourself from a slightly different angle.

Maybe you'll realise you were never waiting for the right body.

You were waiting for permission to be seen.

You have it.

Come as you are.

I'll take care of the rest.
